Introduction
- The sub-sub-series includes all documents collected in the field, the materials for the preparation and study in a long article titled “«Zār»-Beschwoerungen and published in «Der Islam» by Paul Kahle (1912), dedicated to the «zār», name for a cult of spirits found in north-eastern Africa and adjacent regions such as the Arabian peninsula. The ritual of the «zār» was recorded in the field through three texts (Lower Egypt, Cairo, Luxor) during some performances that Kahle witnessed along with the informants.
