- T.W. Manson was Rylands Professor of Biblical Criticism and Exegesis at Manchester from 1936 until his death in 1958. Each October a lecture in New Testament Studies is given to commemorate him by a distinguished New Testament scholar. H. Danby is known mainly for his translation into English of the Mishnah (Oxford, 1933, with many reprints
