Notes
- Manuscript folios on shadow play of the genre “market type” (i.e. similar to the act ‘Aǧīb wa-Ġarīb of the play Ḫayāl al-Ẓill by Ibn Dāniyāl). The text reproduce a dialogue between the protagonist Abū l-Qiṭāṭ and a candy seller.
The text was written by the same hand and bears the same calligraphy. These folios are from the famous manuscript acquired by Kahle in 1707 in Egypt. Paul Kahle has kept these sheets separately from the rest of the manuscript.
This part of the manuscript was entirely published by Paul Kahle (Arabic text and translation into German) in his “Marketszene aus einem egyptischen Schattenspiel”, in: Zeitschrift für Assyriologie, 27 (1912), pp. 92-102.
Loose leaves kept inside a blue cardboard of "Deutsche Schule, Cairo", bearing the title (Kahle's hand) "Marketszene aus einem egyptischen Schattenspiel".
