Introduction
- This sub-sub-series preserves various preliminary studies, notes, drafts and proofs relating to Kahle’s articles on the topic of Chienese porcelain. Kahle studied Arab, Turkish and Chinese historical and geographical sources extensively (among others, Hsiang Yuan P’ien, al-Bīrūnī, Pīrī Re’īs, Sīdī ʻAlī Re’īs, al-Thaʻālibī, al-Maqrīzī, Ibn Khurdādhbeh, Ibn Rustah, ʻAlī Bakr, al-Thaʻālibī, Ibn Baṭṭūṭa, Jansūq-nāma). He wrote the following articles: “Islamische Quellen zum chinesischen Porzellan” (1934), “Islamische Quellen zum chinesischen Porzellan” (1934), “Chinese Porcelain in the Lands of Islam” (1940-41), “Chinese Porcelain in the Lands of Islam” (1953), “Chinesisches Porzellan in den Laendern des Islam” (1953).
