Talmud at the Arturo Graf Library

From April 28 to 30, 2025, the historic rooms of the A. Graf Library hosted the exhibition of a recently restored copy of the Talmud from the Paul Kahle Collection.

The conservation work, carried out by La Venaria Reale Conservation Restoration Center, was completed in October 2024 (restoration dossier).

The exhibition entitled "Il Talmud: genesi, sviluppo e diffusione del principale corpus normativo e letterario del giudaismo rabbinico" (The Talmud: genesis, development and dissemination of the main normative and literary corpus of Rabbinic Judaism) was opened by "Pagine in cenere: nascita, morte e resurrezione di un testo difficile" (Pages in ashes: birth, death and resurrection of a difficult text), a lecture by Prof. Piero Capelli (Ca Foscari University of Venice), one of the leading international experts on Judaism.

The lecture was introduced by talks by Prof. Corrado Martone, Dr. Chiara Pilocane and Dr. Viviana Mandrile.
