Description
- Two copies of a manuscript version of Paul Kahle’s “On Reading the Koran”. The article is a note-review dealing with the various methods adopted by canonical readers in reading the Qurʼān. Kahle presents the contents of a Ms preserved in the Chester Beatty Library (Ms J. 152), entitled «al-Tamhīd fī maʻrifat al-taǧwīd» and attributed to Abū Muḥammad Makkī al-Mālikī, and translates numerous sayings of the Prophet on the topic quoted by al-Mālikī (ff. 1-50). In one version (complete) Kahle copied the excerpts only in Arabic, while in the other (incomplete) version he translated them into English.
