Description

Two copies (one copy with just the first page missing) of two letters sent by J. Fück to Kahle relating to the topic of the history of the Qurʼānic text and to the text’s readers. In these letters, J. Fück analysed the sayings discussed by Kahle in “The Qur’an and the ‘Arabiya”, that were preserved in the first part of Ms Chester Beatty (Ms J. 152), entitled al-Tamhīd fī maʻrifat al-taǧwīd and attributed to Abū Muḥammad Makkī al-Mālikī. Fück also compared the contents of the traditions quoted by al-Mālikī with those quoted by Muttaqī’s Kanz al-ʻUmmāl and others.
