Introduction
- The sub-sub-sub-series preserves various documents on the «Seyāḥat-nāme» (“The Book of Travels”) by the Turkish traveler and writer Ewliyā Čelebī (1611-1679). His major work, even for historical and geographical precious materials it contains, is an extensive report of his travels, which refers to the entire territory of the Ottoman Empire in the period of its maximum extension, and many other places in Europe, Asia and Africa: we find the photographic copies of the Ms Paris, BnF, Suppl. Turc, no. 1136, various notes by Kahle on this work, and the drafts of the translation into German (not sure made by Kahle and inedited) of the work titled “Ẓaifi Čelebī, Siyahat Name geschriben zur Zeit Murad III”.
