Description

Typewritten description, in German and English, of the Ms Oxford, Bodleian, Ms Arab.b.1, "containing the Arabic text of Rašīd al-Dīn’s Jāmiʻ et-Tawārīkh, dealing with the Chinese Emperors”. In the English description Paul Kahle wrote: “The Ms consists of 10 folios, in fol, the last page is empty. The Ms is a fragment. The book is called at the end «Taʼrīḫ al-Ḫitā». The author is not mentioned, but on fol. 2r the “present time” is given as the year 704 A.H., twice, and this is the time when Rašīd al-Dīn was writing his great History, which he bagan buring the reign of Ġāzān (died A.H. 703) and finished in the time of Öljeitü (703-716) in the year 710 A.H. So it is clear that we have here before us a part of Rašīd al-Dīn’s work. It is a fragment of the second part of the second volume of his great History. But we have only a part his description of China here”.
