Introduction
- The archive contains materials related to the article “Moses Maimonides’s Aphorismen («fuṣūl»), Einleitung”. The «Aphorisms» («fuṣūl») of Maimonides, edited in Arabic and translated into German by Kahle, was published as “Appendix” to the study by O. Schröder dedicated to a treatise of Galen that comments the medical portion of the «Timaeus» («Galeni in Platonis Timaeum commentarii fragmenta collegit, disposuit, explicavit», 1934). The text of Maimonides discusses a few divergences on minor points from Galen. Kahle transcribed, translated and discussed both various excerpts on Maimonides, quoted in different Arabic sources on medicine, and the «maqāla»s of Maimonides’s Aphorisms as preserved in an assortment of manuscripts. The sub-sub-sub-series preserves all the preparatory study materials and copies of the manuscripts studied by Kahle.
